NSW Sai Centre Members Visit Mingyue Lay Temple for Buddha Jayanti

Over 100 members from various Sri Sathya Sai Centres across New South Wales came together for a beautiful and enriching visit to the Mingyue Lay Temple in Bonnyrigg, lovingly hosted by the Australian Chinese Buddhist Society. The visit provided a wonderful opportunity for members of all ages to learn more about the teachings, traditions, and practices of Buddhism in an atmosphere of mutual respect, harmony, and fellowship. Through an engaging and interactive session, participants were able to ask questions, share reflections, and interact warmly with the hosts, deepening their understanding of the universal values that unite all faiths.

The visit was especially meaningful as many Buddhist communities around the world observed Buddha Jayanti, commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and Mahasamadhi of Lord Buddha. The day was filled with joy, learning, and cultural exchange, with children enthusiastically participating in origami activities and other interactive experiences. The gathering beautifully reflected the spirit of unity in diversity, reminding all present of the importance of love, compassion, selfless service, and inner peace — values cherished by both Buddhism and the teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

One of the most memorable and sacred moments of the visit was the opportunity for everyone to participate in the traditional bathing of the Buddha idol. Members reverently poured water over the infant Buddha statue, symbolising the purification of the mind and heart, and the aspiration to cultivate purity, humility, and compassion in daily life.
