As part of their ongoing commitment to serving the community, members of the Sai Centre of Mill Park undertook a heartfelt winter support initiative to assist individuals and families experiencing hardship during the colder months. Throughout the year, warm blankets were gradually collected and set aside for community support. Once a sufficient number had been gathered, centre members coordinated with local community organisations to arrange their distribution through The Salvation Army in Whittlesea.
To ensure the blankets were clean and suitable for use, they were professionally laundered before distribution. The blankets were then prepared with great care by centre members. Children lovingly created handmade cards to accompany each blanket, adding personal messages of kindness and encouragement. Parents and other volunteers assisted in packing the blankets and cards into waterproof bags, ensuring they were ready for safe and practical use.
This initiative provided direct support to members of the local community facing the challenges of winter, helping to bring warmth, comfort, and dignity to those in need. Beyond the practical assistance, the project fostered a spirit of compassion and service by involving children, parents, and volunteers in a shared act of giving. Through this collective effort, participants were able to put into practice the values of empathy, selfless service, and social responsibility.
The project not only delivered much-needed relief during the winter season but also strengthened community connections and demonstrated how small acts of kindness, when carried out together, can create a meaningful and lasting impact.
