2,600 kms - 38 Volunteers - 3 Days - 700 Hearts warmed up this Winter in remote New South Wales

Our members from New South Wales contributed generously to our Annual Winter Drive for Aboriginal Communities in remote New South Wales. As part of our appreciation and gratitude to the First Nations people of Australia, our members saved up through the Ceiling on Desires program contributed towards more than 700 winter packs consisting of Blankets, Beanies, Hand Gloves, Socks, Thermos, Hot Water Bottles, Soap and fire starters.

This year, a total of 10 Aboriginal communities in Central and North Western regions of New South Wales on 10th and 11th June 2023 were visited. These communities include Wellington, Gilgandra, Gullagambone & Warren in Central NSW Region and Bourke, Enngonia, Brewarrina, Walgett, Weilmoringle & Collarenebri in North Western NSW Region.

38 Volunteers traveled more than 2,600km in 18 vehicles over 3 days to deliver and distribute the 700 plus winter packs and clothes and shoes (new and near-new ones).

One of the highlights was the distribution of more than 90 pairs of new school shoes to the unfortunate kindergarten, primary and high school children of Collarenebri Central School, located 120 km south of Queensland border.

The feedback received from Aboriginal Communities in remote New South Wales has been very inspiring and we are blessed to be able to serve our Aboriginal brothers and sisters in the remote NSW communities.

We are pleased to share some of the feedback shared by the leaders of the Aboriginal Communities.
