Buddha Purnima is the sacred day that commemorates the birth of Lord Buddha and, in many traditions, also honours His enlightenment and Mahaparinirvana. A profound occasion for reflection on His timeless teachings of compassion, mindfulness, and the path to liberation. Reverentially observed across the world as Vesak, this auspicious day inspires spiritual seekers to renew their commitment to truth, righteousness, and inner transformation.
The Sai Centre of Willetton in Western Australia observed Buddha Purnima (Vesak Day) through a traditional Buddha Bathing ceremony, symbolising the purification of one’s thoughts, words, and deeds, and the cultivation of goodness and virtue. Devotees also engaged in a meaningful study circle, reflecting on the noble qualities of the Buddha’s life and exploring the diversity of Buddhist traditions, while drawing connections with the universal teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The programme concluded on a joyful note with participants learning and singing the beautiful song “Ehpassiko: Come and See!”, deepening their understanding of the Buddha’s invitation to seek and experience truth for oneself.
